The Bagehot Memorial Fund exists to honour the life and legacy of Walter Bagehot (1826-1877), whose writings on constitutional and financial subjects remain influential globally to this day. We have already done much to commemorate him in his home town and, through this website, across the world, and have plans to do much more.
If you would like to support our activities to commemorate the life and work of Walter Bagehot, you can make a donation to the Bagehot Memorial Fund.
Donations can be made either by:
sending a cheque made out to ‘BAGEHOT MEMORIAL FUND’ to The Treasurer, LDHS, 12 Bicknell Drive, Langport TA10 9FE
or by:
making a payment directly to the Fund’s bank account using these details:
Bank: NatWest Bank
Sort Code: 60-12-34
Account Name: BAGEHOT MEMORIAL FUND
Account Number: 37130706
The Fund would also be delighted to receive appropriate donations other than money. These may be books, articles, illustrations, documents or other items relating to Walter Bagehot; his life and work; his family and their businesses, and so on. If you have any such items which you wish to donate to the Fund, to add to its Bagehot collection and archive, please get in touch via [email protected].
The Bagehot Memorial Fund is operated under the auspices of the Langport & District History Society, registered charity no. 1179718. Its finances are kept and accounted for separately within those of the History Society.
