The rivers and moors of the Somerset Levels are regularly subject to winter flooding. The low-lying areas of the town also used to flood regularly until recent times. The exceptional ‘once in a lifetime’ floods of 2013 and 2014 were just extreme versions of well-known annual events. Some of the most iconic images of Langport show it flooded. While floods can be destructive, some of the images have their own beauty.
Photographs of Langport West station in floods are in the section on the station.
