Local MP Sarah Dyke has put down an Early Day Motion in the House of Commons marking the bicentenary of Walter Bagehot’s birth this year & mentions our new book: Walter Bagehot: life and legacy! https://edm.parliament.uk/early-day-motion/65299
Walter Bagehot tried to get elected to Parliament in Bridgwater in 1866 – 160 years ago, but was beaten by just 7 votes. Now, however, he’s recorded in the House of Commons. He’s the subject of his third EDM since 1999. The other two, in 2017, marked the 150th anniversary of the publication of his most famous work, The English constitution.
