The History Society’s new book about Walter Bagehot was launched with bubbly on Saturday at a well-attended event at Hurds Hill, Bagehot’s family home. Bagehot’s travelling briefcase was on show, and there was also a display of the original artwork commissioned for the book, which was done by local artist Mike Sammons. The authors, Janet Seaton and Barry Winetrobe, spoke about the book, and one of the owners of Hurds Hill, David Holmes, talked about what it was like to live in the house where Walter Bagehot had lived, and to sleep in the room in which he died!
